One may think it’s irresponsible to undertake an extreme sport challenge at such a young age. It is often questioned whether it’s better to get a job or go to university, and start preparing for my future. My view is that this project is not just about the actual crossing but to also having to prepare in a minimal amount of time to even get to the starting line in the first place. Having to run a campaign that usually takes 2 – 4 years in 4 months, and alone is proving to be one of the biggest learning experiences of my life. Learning from mistakes, along with meeting and learning first hand from professionals in marketing, PR, project management, and many more. Lots of people learn these skills at university, but not many ordinary people get to lead a £140,000 campaign, before they have even started university. The skills I have learned so far will be widely applicable for me, in work and in life.
